Get the Idea?

One of the most effective style of getting the paragraph's main idea is to know first the topic sentence. Finding the topic sentence leads you to the main idea of the article. In my case, I first look at the title of the article. I think it's a good way to locate the topic, but that is not enough. Another thing is I always ask myself "what is this article all about?" then read through it. When I read a sentence that suits to my question, then I conclude that is the main idea of the topic/paragraph.

In the selection on "Responsibility" from the book "The Road less Traveled" by M. Scott Peck, the main Idea is you must be responsible for your own self. My dad told me that "when you have problems, you can't rely on on friends forever, no one can help you except yourself." This only implies that, I must be responsible for myself, and I can be the only one to solve my own problems forever. "You are the judge, the verdict is up to you" - Astrid Alauda

Just like I've said, your responsible for your own good. Same thing implies in the selection "Responsibility" "We cannot solve problem by saying 'It's not my problem', We cannot solve problem by hoping that someone else will solve it for us. You can only solve a problem when I say 'this is my problem, it's up to me to solve it or not'." So again, your the only responsible for your self, not the others, it is just like problema mo, solusyonan mo.

BONUS:
 My responsibility for myself
As a student, we often do some stuff after class. That day after classes, me and my classmates asked me if I want to play the famous yet dangerous (when playing too much) the game of all, DotA or Defense of the Ancient. Without a doubt I automatically say a "yes" answer. we are not able to check the time and it's already 7:00 pm, we're already played almost 2 and a half hours. We paid the expenses at the shop, then we all went out. I was about to ride at the jeepney with surprise I DON"T HAVE ANY MONEY LEFT! EVEN 6 PESOS FOR THE JEEPNEY FARE! "THIS IS MADNESS!!" I said. I approach ALL of my classmates/DotAmates and ask for a 6 pesos for the jeepney fare. Everyone has a one answer: I DON'T HAVE. I almost get mad at them, "when they want something from me, I give it to them without a doubt, but when I need something to them, they will neglect me without a doubt too" I said. As expected I walked from School to my Home, YES, WALK!. Then when I came home, my parents scolded me because I arrived home late. Then I told to myself "my dad was right, your friends cannot help you forever when you're in need, only YOURSELF can." If I'm responsible to myself, then I would immediately stop playing so that I can have a money for the fare, but, I trusted to them that "they will able to give me."

I like how your post progressed. It wasn't the best beginning, though. But it was a good read. Nice story too!
